Sarah Moonen is a physiotherapist and researcher at the University of Antwerp, where she has been advancing rehabilitation science since 2023. With a strong clinical foundation, she pursued further specialization in manual therapy (2023–2024), edema therapy (2024–2025), and scar treatment (2025–2026).
Her PhD project, the FWO-funded KOPCom trial, explores heat-related discomfort as a barrier to adherence in compression therapy. By integrating clinical expertise with scientific inquiry, Sarah aims to improve patient comfort and enhance therapeutic outcomes.
Her research focuses on compression therapy, which is a key treatment modality for both patients with chronic edema and burns . Accordingly, her publications address issues and advancements across these populations. Through her work, she seeks to bridge the gap between patient-reported barriers and practical solutions, while fostering collaboration between researchers and the industry to improve care, boost adherence, and ultimately enhance quality of life.
