Prof. Dr. Mira Meeus

Prof. Mira Meeus is a leading expert in chronic pain and rehabilitation science. Her research explores the complex biopsychosocial mechanisms underlying persistent pain, with a main emphasis on alterations in central pain processing and nociplastic pain. By bridging basic (neuro)physiological insights with more clinical research, she aims to unravel why pain persists beyond tissue healing and how it can be better assessed and managed. As co-founder of CarEdOn, she aspires to advance the integrated approach to pain after cancer (treatment) combining education, exercise, and psychosocial interventions to improve long-term quality of life for survivors.
