The International Lymphoedema Framework (ILF) Conference is an event that brings together experts and professionals from around the globe to share their research, insights, and advancements in the field of lymphoedema care. This year, the conference took place in Nottingham. The ILF Conference 2023 proved to be a pleasant experience, highlighting innovative approaches to patient care. In this blog post, we will delve into the conference, focusing on some interesting presentations delivered by the members of the team.
An-Kathleen's Presentation on Multidisciplinary Care for Patients with Lymphoedema shed light on the predictive variables for the improvement of the lymphoedema-specific quality of life six months after participation in an intensive multidisciplinary treatment programme. We keep in mind that the number of days a person performs exercises in the months before the 6 months follow up might be an important variable.
Tessa's presentation on the reliability, concurrent validity and clinical feasibility of different measuring methods in the assessment of swelling in patients with lower limb lymphoedema and healthy controls offered fresh perspectives. Her research contributes to the importance of early detection and the role of practically feasible assessments in the assessment of swelling.
Charlotte's talk on midline lymphoedema after prostate cancer shed light on a relatively lesser-known aspect of lymphoedema, creating a space for dialogue and further investigation. Her presentation highlighted the challenges faced by prostate cancer survivors and the importance of addressing midline lymphoedema as a distinct condition. The insights of this study prompted attendees to delve deeper into research and develop targeted interventions to improve the quality of life for these patients.
