Summary
The Physio Perspective study explores the current state of oncological rehabilitation regarding pain-related complaints, focusing on the knowledge, attitudes, and clinical behavior of physiotherapists working in this field.
This longitudinal cohort study uses a pre/post design. Physiotherapists who wish to participate are invited to register on an online platform, where they complete a survey consisting of questionnaires and a clinical case. The survey collects data on background characteristics (e.g., age, work setting), knowledge of pain and its management, clinical decision-making, and implicit and explicit beliefs and attitudes toward chronic pain management, including the role of physical activity.
After completing the initial survey, participants gain access to an e-learning module. The same assessments are repeated after completing the module to evaluate changes in knowledge, attitudes, and clinical behavior.
The Physio Perspective Study is part of a larger trial that also investigates rehabilitation in other populations, including physiotherapists working with patients with chronic low back pain.
By identifying current gaps and evaluating the impact of targeted education, the study aims to inform strategies for improving pain management in physiotherapy practice.

Information for participants
De Physio Perspective Study onderzoekt hoe fysiotherapeuten te werk gaan in de oncologische revalidatie. Specifiek onderzoeken we hoe ze omgaan met pijnklachten bij mensen die kanker hebben doorgemaakt. Het doel is om inzicht te krijgen in hun kennis, houding en klinisch gedrag rond pijn en beweging.
Naast oncologische revalidatie kijkt de studie ook naar therapeuten die werken met mensen met chronische lage rugpijn.
Het doel van deze studie is om met de inzichten een beter beeld te krijgen op de aanpak in oncologische revalidatie en een gerichtere ondersteuning te kunnen bieden aan fysiotherapeuten in het werkveld.
Deelname aan het onderzoek verloopt online en bestaat uit twee vragenlijsten en het volgen van een e-learning. Bij de start van het onderzoek, vult u een eerste vragenlijsten, erna volgt u de e-learning. Na een maand wordt u uitgenodigd voor de tweede vragenlijst, deze is opnieuw online in te vullen, hier worden dezelfde vragen opnieuw gesteld om te zien of er veranderingen zijn in kennis en aanpak.
Voorwaarden om deel te nemen zijn:
- actief in het werkveld als fysiotherapeut
- ervaring met oncologische revalidatie
- een computer tot beschikking hebben, de vragenlijst dient namelijk op een computer ingevuld te worden en niet op een mobiel apparaat
